The Catskills: North-South Lake

North-South Lake is now part of the Catskill Forest Preserve near Palenville, New York. The lake was a favorite subject of painters in the Hudson River School, particularly its founding member Thomas Cole. The prestigious resort hotels in the area, especially the Catskill Mountain House overlooking the Hudson River, helped to make the Catskills famous.
